Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Thefts:

A man reported at 8:53 a.m. Wednesday from somewhere in Juneau that his Nokia cell phone was stolen over the weekend.

A man reported at 12:32 p.m. Wednesday near Fifth Street in Douglas that a red backpack was stolen from his unlocked vehicle.

Vandalism, criminal mischief:

A man reported at 5:57 p.m. Wednesday near Glacier Highway that a vehicle parked outside his condominium was scratched on the driver's side door.

Animal encounters:

Bears were reported Wednesday at 8:28 a.m. near Northwood Drive, 9:50 a.m. near Fifth Street, 1:31 p.m. near Mendenhall Loop Road, 6:27 p.m. near Eighth Street, 7:46 p.m. near Northwood Drive, 8:05 p.m. near Glacier Highway, 8:27 p.m. near Northwood Drive, 9:16 p.m. near Alder Circle, 9:16 p.m. near Trinity Drive, 10:02 p.m. near Hospital Drive, 11:47 near Fourth Street and 12:04 today near West 12th Street.
