In season: King and dungeness crab, halibut and rockfish (peaks June-Sept.), sockeye, pink and chum salmon (runs June to Sept., peaks in July), coho salmon (June-Nov.), freshwater brook trout (peaks Aug.-Sept.), bear viewing at Pack Creek (June-Sept., peaks July and Aug.), deer (Aug.-Dec., depending on area), mountain goat (Aug.-Dec., depending on area), wolf (Aug.-April), grouse (Aug.-May), ptarmigan (Aug.-May), ducks, geese, brants, swans, snipe, crane (Sept.-Dec.), moose, (Sept.-Oct.), coyote (Sept.-April), hare (Sept.-April), brown bear (Sept.-Dec.), black bear (Sept.-mid-Oct.) and crow (Sept.-mid-Nov.).

Sept. 29: Fall Harbor Racing Series, Round 2, noon-4 p.m., Juneau Harbor.

Sept. 30: SE Alaska High power rifle championship, at the Hank Harmon Rifle Range, 8 a.m. registration, shoot at 9 a.m. Juneau Rifle and Pistol Club.

October: Peak month for freshwater steelhead trout.

Oct.-April: Juneau Archery Club adult indoor shoot in the Floyd Dryden Middle School commons area.

Oct. 2: Full moon.

Oct. 2: Alpine Club meeting at the Turley home, 789-7058.

Oct. 3: Juneau Archery Club board meeting at Collinsworth's.

Oct. 4:Juneau Sailing Club Monthly Meeting at the Breakwater Inn, guest speaker 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Oct. 6:Fall Harbor Racing Series, Round-3, noon-4 p.m., Juneau Harbor.

Oct. 6: Alpine Club Bullard climb. This will be a 10-hour, high-intensity, 8-mile hike requiring ice ax and crampons. Call hike leader Bill Forrest, 798-3008.

Oct. 13: Alpine Club Hawthorne Peak climb. This will be an 11-mile hike, high intensity hike requiring an ice ax and crampons. Call hike leader Dave Lefebvre, 789-4099.

Oct. 13: Smallbore rifle silhouette at the Hank Harmon Rifle Range, 9 a.m. registration, shoot at 10 a.m.
