Today everyone's attention is directed toward the terrorist actions against the WTC towers and the Pentagon building. Good. We all need to be involved against terrorism. But Juneauites are limited in their direct involvement against world terrorists like Osama bin Laden. Citizens of Juneau could, however, have a major impact on the apprehension of local terrorists.
Anyone who maims a city bear with an arrow or a .22 bullet is a terrorist! Anyone who slaughters a herd of deer is a terrorist! Anyone who drives drunk on a highway is a terrorist!
The major problem in combating terrorism is a lack of information about the terrorists. Who are they? Where do they live? It's understandable why it is difficult to obtain information on terrorists living in Afghanistan, but when they live in Juneau, what's the problem? Someone has to know who killed and wasted the eight deer left along the Glacier Highway. The natural resources of this state belong to all Alaskans, not just the scum-bag terrorists. It's a big job protecting this state's resources, and the law enforcement agencies can't do the job by themselves. We all have to help them! Anyone knowing anything about the wasting of the deer described in the Sept. 23 issue of the Juneau Empire needs to call 465-4000 and give the information to the troopers. If you observe a drunk driver on the highway, get their license number and call 911 immediately. The life you save may be yours or mine.
