Project Playground representatives accept a $5,000 community grant, for the new playground at Twin Lakes, from the Fred Meyer Foundation on Sept. 12 at the future playground site. Project Playground is a group of community volunteers building a large playground with multiple climbing structures, slides, swings and other play features that will encourage physical activity and creative play for generations of young people. The foundation's community grant program is driven by 29 local advisory committees made up of local Fred Meyer associates who research nonprofit organizations in their communities and then award community grants.
