Anchorage man charged with shooting woman

ANCHORAGE - A 56-year-old Anchorage man has been charged with shooting and wounding a woman as she attempted to drive away from a home.

Rodney Bales was jailed Saturday with bail set at $50,000.

Police took a call just after 8 a.m. Saturday in what they said was a domestic dispute.

Witnesses say Bales and the woman had been in a physical confrontation and she left a home on Borland Drive, got into her pickup and began driving away.

Police say Bales followed her out the door armed with a handgun and fired several rounds. A bullet struck the woman in the arm. Police say the wound is not life-threatening.

Bales was charged with assault, reckless endangerment, weapons misconduct and criminal mischief.
