ANCHORAGE - Alaska Pacific University's new president has been officially installed.

Don Bantz has been on the job but was formally recognized Saturday at the Dena'ina Center in Anchorage.

Bantz is the ninth president of APU.

Bantz succeeds Douglas North, who left the university in January to begin a sabbatical and then take over as head of schools at Albany Academies in New York.

After a national search, Bantz was selected by a unanimous vote of the APU Board of Trustees.

He says one of his goals will be to attract more Alaska students, including Alaska Natives, to APU.
