Arrogance in Assembly race

Letter to the editor

Voters need to remember the words of Bob Doll. After getting beat almost 2-to-1 in his attempt to represent House District 4, Mr. Doll's comments were broadcast on KINY. When asked about his loss, Mr. Doll lamented that, he "thought the voters were more sophisticated." If you heard the broadcast, you would have noticed the tone of disgust in his voice. How much more arrogant and condescending can he be? Does anybody want that attitude on the Assembly?

And now we find Mr. Doll has teamed up with none other than Jim Powell, Juneau's own poster child for term limits. You remember Powell, how he and the honorable Beth Kerttula were fined by the APOC for cheating during an election, using Enron accounting tricks to hide expenses. Now these characters want Ms. Mara Early to drop out of the race so Mr. Doll will have a better chance of winning.

If you've ever wondered why so many people are so sick and tired of Democrats, look no further than the Dolls and the Powell-Kerttulas. At least Ms. Early has demonstrated some strength of moral character. Young Democrats would be wise to note the contrast between her and the arrogant clique that currently defines the party.

I suspect most of us unsophisticated voters will vote for neither Ms. Early nor Mr. Doll. However, if you sophisticated types are still confused, on Oct. 4, please vote for anybody but Bob.

John Bishop
