It's common to ask candidates to quit

What's new? Why all the hype? Jim Powell and others were just doing what folks have been doing since the beginning of time. Even though Assembly races are supposed to be nonpartisan the goal is always to get candidates elected who support your community views.

My first race nearly 20 years ago ended quickly when the Bruce Botelho campaign showed me I was going to be a spoiler. Being young and naive, I hadn't thought about that before I filed. But I learned fast and dropped out of the race. The next time around, I was the highest vote-getter.

If anybody thinks the other side wasn't doing the same thing in this campaign they weren't paying attention. What about the other candidates that suddenly changed their minds? Coincidence? I doubt it.

The good news is that we have good candidates to choose from. Most importantly, please vote next week.
