Former Juneau resident Joseph L. Estep, 60, died Sept. 9, 2006, in Portsmouth, Va.

Born Nov. 26, 1945, in Logan, W.Va., he was a Vietnam Veteran Marine corporal. He lived approximately 10 years in Juneau and worked for the Alaska Marine Highway System in the engine room. He was planning to return to Alaska, but now his ashes will be returned via his daughter, whose husband in stationed in Anchorage.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Estep; brother, William Estep; and sister, Minette Estep.

He is survived by his widow, Patricia Estep; son, Thaddeus Estep; daughters, Dymphany, Bridget and Katrina Estep; five grandchildren; mother, Aretta McKenry; brother, Charles "Mac" McKenry; and sister, Michele Langrederer.

His memorial was held in Portsmouth on Sept. 15.
