Student artist spotlight: Vaipuna Toutaiolepo

Grade: first.

School: Glacier Valley Elementary School.

Art of choice: painting.

Experience: two years.

Favorites: "I use blue; it's my favorite color. I like to paint flowers. ... I like drama and playing instruments. I want to play drums, 'cause I like the drumsticks."

Activites: "I play football too."

Wacky art: Wacky artists "could paint a boy doing back flips with a pig."

You should know: "I like to play Mario on my Gamecube. My mom is my hero!"

His classroom teacher Natasha Chester says: "Vaipuna is always ready to try new activities and takes a lot of pride in his work. He uses color well. Viapuna has amazing focus while he is creating visual art. Vaipuna is curious, loves to learn and is not afraid to try new things. If you see Vaipuna complete a piece of work he will go back and try it again in a different way. He's always exploring and encouraging others to do their best too."
