Longtime Juneau resident Elaine Etukeok died Sept. 23, 2008, in Anchorage. She was 74.
Born in Juneau in July 1934 to John and Anne Eldemar Sr., she was Raven, Sea Pigeon and of the Raven Nest house. Her father was Filipino, from San Juan, Le Union, Philippines. She was the eighth of 11 children. She attended Mount Edgecumbe High School, graduating in 1953.
She was a Juneau resident for 34 years and a Bureau of Indian Affairs employee.
She is survived by her daughter, Beckie Etukeok; grandson, Erik Johnson; granddaughter, Shoshanna Johnson; siblings, Dora Queral, Lu Eldemar and Dan Eldemar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall.
Pallbearers are Greg Hayes, Marcello Quinto, Terry Doyle, Dennis Wing and Ed Johns. Honorary pallbearers are Rosita Worl, Helen Watkins, Cris Hill, Atricia Mackaily, Kathy Eldemar and Cheryl Eldemar.
