FAIRBANKS - An Alaska Native corporation is endorsing U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski.
Doyon, Limited says its board of directors has approved a resolution endorsing the Republican's write-in campaign to keep her job. Doyon says this is the first time it has publicly endorsed a political candidate.
President and chief executive Norman Phillips Jr. says Murkowski has a proven track record that "benefits all Alaskans."
Murkowski, Alaska's senior senator, lost the GOP primary last month to conservative Joe Miller.
The Democrat in the race is Sitka Mayor Scott McAdams.
Doyon says it's the largest private landowner in Alaska and has nearly 18,000 shareholders and 2,600 employees.
