JUNEAU - The Juneau World Affairs Council will present Nadia Hijab to speak on "Palestinian-Israeli Peace: An Agenda for the next President" at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the KTOO Studio at Whittier and Egan downtown.
Hijab is a senior fellow at the Institute for Palestine Studies in Washington, D.C., a nonprofit research organization whose Journal of Palestine Studies is a leading resource on the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Hijab is a frequent media commentator and has appeared on the Lehrer Newshour. She has written on such topics as "Womanpower: The Arab Debate on Women at Work" in 1988 and co-authored "Citizens Report: A Portrait of Palestinians at Work in 1990."
She was editor-in-chief of the London-based Middle East magazine before moving to New York in 1989 to join the United Nations, where she served as a senior development officer. She is a regular public speaker and past president of the Association of Arab-American University Graduates.
