Southeast tribal college to organize

JUNEAU -- The first annual meeting of the Southeast Alaska Tribal College is scheduled for Friday in Juneau.

The meeting will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Haa Kaak Hs Kahid, the Vocational Training Resource Center at Salmon Creek.

The college's proposed mission "is to open our ancestors' box of wisdom, knowledge, respect, patience and understanding."

The meeting is expected to include a review of the draft bylaws and election of officers. Also to be discussed are the priorities for the college's programs such as teacher training for Tlingit language teachers, adult education, training for tribal courts and tribal management, and Native arts.
