Highlighting differences

Letter to the editor

Posted: Thursday, October 02, 2003

The easiest letter I could write to the editor would be to highlight the differences between Dan Peterson and Dale Anderson. Instead, I want to go on recordhighlighting the strengths of a candidate for city assemblylike Dan.

Approachable would be the first way I would describe Dan. I have never known him to not have time to listen, listen, listen to people who have concerns regarding our community. Regardless of his political views, he is open to listening to an opposing view and respectfully considering the opinions of others. Dan readily admits he has learned much from listening to people who think differently from him.

Valuing education would be another way to describe him. His commitment and hard work on the school board and in volunteer work is a true measure of the kind of commitment we can expect from him.

Finally, what you see is exactly what you get with Dan. No hidden agendas, no smiles while he cuts your jugular, no empty promises.

Dan Peterson is exactly the kind of person I want to see roll up his sleeves and serve the citizens of the City and Borough of Juneau.
