JUNEAU - State Rep. Anna Fairclough, R-Eagle River, gets a free pass to another term in office.
That's because Democratic challenger Bill Gossweiler withdrew from the Nov. 4 election against the Republican incumbent.
Gossweiler says he needed to focus on family matters.
This leaves the Democrats without a candidate in the Eagle River area because it's too late to replace Gossweiler.
Gossweiler notified the Alaska Public Offices Commission that he is no longer a candidate, but he will remain on the ballot. Candidates had until Sept. 17 to pull their name from the ticket.
Fairclough is finishing her first term in office. She served on several committees including the House Resources Committee.
