The Hurricanes hand Sitka its first JYFL Senior Division loss

Randy Segelhorst's 30-yard touchdown reception from Camden Thomas sealed the Hurricanes' 32-27 victory over Sitka on Saturday in the Juneau Youth Football League Senior Division.

It was Sitka's first loss of the season.

Segelhorst added a 20 yard run and a pair of two-point conversions in the win.

Alex Matheson added a 24-yard TD run, Vinh Le caught a TD pass from Thomas, while Wil Jordan Sangster rushed in two two-point conversions. Sangster was the Hurricanes' workhorse, rushing for 185 yards behind the blocking of Colton Welch, Erik Reyna, Warren Eckland, Spencer Miller, Jorge Vasquez and Seth Santana.

Curt DeTemple had a sack in the win.

Seth Feldspausch, Ryne Sorenson and Matt Michal had rushing touchdowns for Sitka, while Josiah Hill recovered a fumble in the end zone.

Alex Kernin caught a two-point conversion pass from Sorenson while Sorenson also ran for a conversion.

SENIOR DIVISION

Cougars 22, Red Raiders 18

A pair of Jordan Hakala two-point conversions proved the difference in the Cougars' victory over the Red Raiders.

Hakala, Taylor Dalton and Christian Parker had rushing touchdowns in the win.

For the Red Raiders, Leka Maka scored two TDs while Danny Nore scored on a 1-yard run.

JUNIOR DIVISION

Hawkeyes 52, Sitka 22

The Hawkeyes and Sitka combined to score 56 second-quarter points as the Hawkeyes picked up a win.

The Hawkeyes also returned three interceptions for touchdowns in the win.

Christopher Mack led the Hawkeyes' offensive barrage with two rushing touchdowns, one receiving TD and a defensive score.

Brian Brassfield and Jared Cheatham returned interceptions for scores, while Samson Nauer had a rushing TD and Antonio Moreno added a receiving score in the win.

Villiami Tupou had two TD passes, a two-point pass to Nauer and a two-point run.

For Sitka, Brian Way connected with Mitchell Boord on a 40-yard score. The duo also hooked up on a two-point conversion.

Huskies 20, Tigers 12

Trey Williams had a rushing score and caught a touchdown pass from Trevor Pfaff in the Huskies' win over the Tigers.

Kohl Jaegger had a rushing TD and a two-point conversion to round out the Huskies' scoring.

For the Tigers, Peter Peel completed a touchdown pass to Stefan Jones while John Jolly had a rushing TD.

CUB DIVISION

Seahawks 6, Cowboys 0

Brendan Van Kirk scored in the third quarter to give the Seahawks a win over the Cowboys.

Van Kirk scored on a 1-yard run.

Titans 14, Wildcats 0

Maake Maake and Collin Ludeman scored rushing touchdowns for the victorious Tigers.

Ludeman also caught a two-point pass from Jayden Hodgson.
