REACH, Wells Fargo to hold free shred day

Posted: Friday, October 03, 2008

JUNEAU - To help Juneau residents and small businesses prevent fraud and recycle paper, REACH Inc., a nonprofit organization providing support services for people with disabilities, will offer free paper shredding services 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wells Fargo Glacier Valley Store, 9150 Glacier Highway.

Community members are invited to bring up to 50 pounds of paper documents to be shredded and recycled by REACH. Free refreshments will be provided by Wells Fargo.

"REACH is pleased to work with Wells Fargo to encourage people to destroy confidential personal and business documents properly, rather than disposing of them in non-secure garbage bins," Richard Fagundes, REACH executive director, said.

"One of the keys to combating fraud and identity theft is to prevent personal information from getting into the wrong hands," Mindy Kissner, Wells Fargo Glacier Valley store manager, said. "With this Shred Day event, we are increasing awareness about the importance of shredding confidential documents and recycling paper at the same time."
