The Juneau area personal use red and blue king crab winter season in Section 11-A began Monday. The winter season will remain open through 11:59 p.m. March 31, 2002, unless closed earlier by emergency order.

The total harvest allocation for the 2001/2002 section 11-A winter fishery is 1,800 crab. The daily bag and possession limits for section 11-A personal use fishery is two legal-sized males per permit per day. The winter seasonal bag limit will be 10 red or blue king crab per individual and 20 per household.

The summer red and blue king crab harvest permits are valid for the winter season. Fishermen should keep separate the number of king crab harvested from the summer/winter seasons, and if an additional permit is needed for the winter fishery, and addendum permit will be issued when the original permit is returned to the Douglas Commercial Fisheries front desk.
