Heavily used trail
It would be a shame if the airport dike trail was closed to the public. I use it often and see many people out there enjoying it at all times of the year. It is one of the most accessible trails in Juneau and used by a wide cross-section of the community - runners, walkers, parents with young children on bikes, dog-walkers, birdwatchers. It's great in all weather, and because it's so flat, it's usable after sunset. It's a beautiful walk along the wetlands that many people of all ages can get to.
I hope the FAA, airport officials, and the Assembly will carefully consider what a tremendous asset to the community this trail is before making any hasty decisions. Closing it to the public is not going to solve any potential security problems; it will only deprive the community of a well-loved and heavily used trail.
