JDHS grad Suzanne Parr earns weekly honor

JUNEAU - University of Bridgeport senior and Juneau-Douglas High School graduate Suzanne Parr was named the East Coast Conference Co-runner of the Week on Sept. 25.

Parr finished fifth out of 114 runners at the Bard College Invitational on Sept. 23 with a time of 26 minutes, 32.09 seconds. She led the Purple Knights to a third place finish out of 19 teams on the 6-kilometer course in Annandale, N.Y.

She is the first Bridgeport runner to earn a weekly conference cross country honor.

Dinnan garners rookie award with Quinnipiac

JUNEAU - Tyler Dinnan, a 2005 Juneau-Douglas High School graduate, was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Sept. 26 after helping lead Quinnipiac University to the Quinnipiac Invitational cross country title.

Dinnan is a freshman with the Bobcats.

He was Quinnipiac's seventh fastest runner and took 22nd overall, finishing the 8,000-meter course in 27 minutes, 26.7 seconds.

JDHS cross country girls win academic award

JUNEAU - The Juneau-Douglas High School girls cross country team won the academic award last weekend at the Alaska School Activities Association/First National Bank Alaska State Championships in Soldotna.

The Crimson Bears girls posted a 3.98 collective GPA. The girls team was composed of Leah Francis, Kirsten Jorgensen, Katie Krehlik, Leigh Miller, Annika Ord, Evelyn Fisher and Brittany Lehnhart.

The boys team posted a collective 3.67 GPA.
