Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:
Driving while intoxicated:
Shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a rollover single-vehicle accident at the McNugget intersection. George Whitley, 58, was arrested for drunken driving and for driving with a blood-alcohol level in excess of 0.10 percent. He was transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. His vehicle was impounded.
Thefts, lost and found property:
Shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday, a woman, 39, reported a black cell phone stolen from her vehicle parked near the State Office Building.
Shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday, a Juneau Police Department employee found a license plate hanging on a fence on Ninth Street. The license plate was brought to JPD; attempts were made to contact its owner.
About 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, a man, 31, reported that a shotgun and two backpacks had been stolen Tuesday from his vehicle parked on Merchant's Wharf. He had no leads or suspects.
Drugs:
About 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, police contacted two women, 40 and 44, behind the Elks Lodge and cited them for sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.
Warrant arrest:
Shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday, police arrested a man, 23, at an apartment on Distin Avenue on an outstanding JPD warrant charging failure to contact Gastineau Human Services. The intoxicated man was lodged at state prison.
Vehicle accidents:
About 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Egan and Highland Drives. A blue Toyota pickup rear-ended a blue Mazda. The Toyota was operated by a boy, 16. The Mazda was driven by a man, 53. The Toyota suffered no damage. The Mazda had about $500 damage.
About 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, police received a report of a minor vehicle accident in which a vehicle driven by a man, 37, rear-ended a Subaru. The Subaru had about $1,000 damage; the other vehicle, no damage. There were no injuries.
Hit-and-run incidents:
Shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday, a woman, 44, reported that her Honda Civic had been hit by an unknown vehicle. The front passenger door was damaged.
Animal encounters:
Shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, police received a report of a bear at Upper Cedar Park.
About 4:30 a.m. today, police received a report of a bear in Cedar Park.
Other:
Shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday, police arrested an intoxicated man, 45, at the Marine Park parking garage for disorderly conduct. He was released at the scene.
