Chava Lee performs the ritual of Casting the Bread Upon the Waters on Tuesday at Cope Park as part of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year observances. The casting of bread into water symbolizes sins being cast away. About 25 members of Juneau's Sukkat Shalom community participated in the ceremony. Rabbi David Kline of Massachusetts was brought to town to help Juneau's Jewish community celebrate. It now is year 5766 on the Jewish calendar.
