Membership in Republican Women

Juneau's Capital City Republican Women kick off their annual fall membership drive this month, culminating with their annual Women in Red Membership Tea on Dec. 4.

Dues are $25 per year and include membership in the National Federation of Republican Women, the Alaska Federation of Republican Women and the local Republican women's group.

Registered Republican women interested in becoming involved with the Alaska Federation of Republican Women can contact AFRW president, Paulette Simpson at 364-3179 or e-mail Capital City Republican Women at ccrw@alaska.com.

Symphonies seek more musicians

The Juneau Student Symphonies are seeking more musicians of all ages, especially percussion, cello, trombone, oboe, bassoon and clarinet players.

The orchestras rehearse as a group on Monday nights and practice individually during the week. The next rehearsal is 6 p.m., Oct. 10, at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School commons.

The Juneau Student Symphonies are full community orchestras for students of all ages who have basic music reading skills on woodwind, brass, percussion or string instruments. These are performance-based orchestras with concerts in November, February, April and August.

Calendar proceeds go to art program

The Glacier Valley Parent Group "Art is Elementary" is selling Juneau School District activities calendars for $10.

Proceeds help support Glacier Valley Elementary School's art program.
