Thanks for participating in the International Coastal Clean-up Day
Sound off on the important issues at
Turning the Tides, the Alaskan Brewing Co., the Marine Conservation Alliance Foundation and the Juneau Watershed Partnership would like to thank the 80-plus Juneauites who participated in the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Clean-up day on Sept. 15.
This turnout and support for this event was a tremendous success. Volunteers braved wind and rain to collect an estimated 3 tons of garbage from 12 local beaches.
We would like to thank the Alaskan Brewery, the Juneau Unitarian Church, the Juneau LDS Church, NMFS/NOAA, the Tongass Girl Scouts, Turning the Tides, Friends of Recycling, the Juneau Audubon Society, the US Coast Guard and the MCA Foundation for 'adopting' sections of beaches from Sandy Beach to Echo Cove. Thank you for all your help and we hope you participate in next year's event.
We would especially like to thank the city of Juneau Streets Department and Parks and Recreation Department, who picked up and disposed of the garbage from the event. Thank you for your help and generosity.
International Coastal Clean-up Day is sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. See you next September for International Coastal Clean up day 2008!
