Seminar looks at air in homes
The Asthma and Allergy Support Group is sponsoring a meeting titled "Healthy Air/Healthy Homes -- How to Maintain, Remodel and Build Homes for Better Air Quality" at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Bartlett Regional Hospital cafeteria.
Marquam George will speak about getting rid of dust mites and mold, using houshold products to maintain air quality, and ways of building and remodeling that promote healthy air.

Hunters asked to follow rules
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is asking waterfowl hunters in the Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge to follow several established guidelines.
The guidelines include using only public access points unless permission is granted for private property, being respectful of other refuge users such as walkers and bikers, using caution when shooting since people and buildings are nearby, and conducting hunting in a safe and ethical manner.

Volunteers for CASA sought
The Court Appointed Special Advocates Program will conduct informational meetings for prospective volunteers from noon to 1 p.m. Oct. 11 at the downtown public library and from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at Northern Light United Church, 400 W. 11th Street.
Volunteers represent abused and neglected children in court. Volunteers must complete 32 hours of weekend and evening training, be at least 21 years old and pass a screening process.
