Stephanie Joyce wins Davis Scholarship

Stephanie Joyce of Juneau has won a Davis Scholarship to attend Red Cross Nordi UWC, in Norway

Joyce is one of 50 U.S. high school students selected in a national competition to represent the U.S. in the international student bodies of the United World College schools (UWCs). Davis scholarships are merit scholarships covering the full cost of tuition, room and board for two years at a United World College school.

The UWCs are two-year residential schools that foster international understanding in dynamic, multitcultural and academically challenging environments. The ten UWCs are located in Canada, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Norway, Singapore, Swaziland, the U.S., Venezuela and Wales. Throughout the two year program, UWC students grow academically and personally among talented and culturally diverse classmates and faculty.

Angela Fowler is summa cum laude

Angela Inez Fowler was graduated summa cum laude from Hollins University in Roanoke, Va., in May of this year. She graduated with a double major in dance and Spanish. She is a 2000 graduate of Juneau-Douglas High School and received her early dance education from Juneau Dance Unlimited.
