"The Greatest Game Ever Played," (PG) **

Synopsis: A poor caddie attempts to wrest the 1913 U.S. Open title from snooty British favorites. Unless you're a golf fan, you may fall asleep.

"In Her Shoes," (PG-13) **1/2

"The Aristocrats" (NR) ***

Synopsis: Can a joke stand up to repeated tellings? Hilarious and revealing of the way comedy works, "The Aristocrats" demonstrates that it's possible.

Synopsis: Wallace and his superintelligent pooch, Gromit, must defend a village from lettuce-snarfing bunnies in this delightful clay-animated adventure.

Synopsis: A nonbeliever defense attorney defends a priest who has lost a parishioner on whom he was performing an exorcism. A modest horror flick.

"Just Like Heaven," (PG-13) **1/2

Synopsis: A young workaholic (Reese Witherspoon) dies and becomes a spirit that haunts a hard-drinking landscaper (Mark Ruffalo).

"Lord of War," (R) ***

Where: 20th Century Twin. Times: Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.

Synopsis: The story of an unapologetic gun runner, played with swagger and charisma by Nicolas Cage, is smart, taut, thrilling and darkly funny.

"Tim Burton's Corpse Bride," (PG) ***

Where: Glacier Cinemas. Times: Thursday, Oct. 7 at 6:50 p.m.

Synopsis: Victor (Johnny Depp) finds himself emotionally torn between the living Victoria and the dead-but-alluring Corpse Bride in this animated fantasy.

"Into the Blue," (PG-13) **

Synopsis: Young divers discover the wreckage of a cargo plane filled with gold in this muddled thriller set in the deep, shark-infested waters of the Bahamas.

"Serenity," (PG-13) **1/2
