JUNEAU - A Haines man has been indicted by a Juneau grand jury for murder stemming from his alleged involvement in the beating death of his uncle.
Robert Skulka, 35, was indicted Monday in Juneau Superior Court on a charge of second-degree murder of William Jackson, his uncle. Second-degree murder carries a minimum prison term of five years.
According to court documents filed by the district attorney's office, Skulka and Jackson were arguing the evening of Sept. 18 when a physical fight broke out between the two in Jackson's home.
Skulka allegedly pushed Jackson to the ground, causing him to hit his head on a coffee table, according to witnesses' statements referred to in court documents. Skulka allegedly kicked Jackson repeatedly in the mid-section. Jackson was taken to an area hospital but later died of his injuries.
