Rights for all humans

In reply to Shane Wirtz' comments on Oct. 4, thank you. I am so glad someone spoke up. I agree; it is wrong and racist. The fact is they get away with it. They get their own street and you have to be native or married to one before you can buy a house. How I would love someone to buy a street and say only whites can live here, or only African Americans. How about only Samoans or Asians? But that would never fly. It would never be allowed to happen, and yet we have homes and streets where only Natives can own and live.

I was born in Alaska. My mom was born in Alaska, and both my grandparents were born in Alaska. I am as Alaskan as any of my Native friends, and yet I have none of the rights they do. I do not have health care. I do not have funding to give my kids a home. I do not have special privileges to jobs. Maybe it's time we stand up for all our rights as Alaskans and as members of the human race.
