Man faces 99 years for killing mom

PALMER - A man who stabbed his mother 88 times and locked himself in a bathroom while she bled to death will serve 99 years in prison.
Aaron Butler, 29, was sentenced to the maximum Wednesday for the murder two years ago of Grace Butler. A jury found the Palmer man guilty in June.
Superior Court Judge Beverly Cutler said she gave Aaron Butler the maximum sentence because of the brutal nature of the killing and his lack of remorse.
He will serve at least 33 years before he's considered for parole.
Grace Butler was stabbed at her home March 26, 2003, with a steak knife. Investigators said Butler told them he smoked marijuana and used methamphetamine before stabbing his 54-year-old mother until the blade broke off in her hair.
