JUNEAU - Students from two Juneau schools will have the opportunity this morning to participate in "Walk or Bike to School Day" events organized by the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities.

DOT employees will meet at the 12th Street and Glacier Avenue intersection at 7:15 a.m. for Harborview Elementary students.

They will be at Stephen Richards Drive and Mendenhall Loop Road at 7:45 a.m. for students attending Floyd Dryden Middle School.

The first event downtown is expected to end by 8 a.m., while the Mendenhall Valley outing will last until 8:30 a.m. Both end prior to the school day's beginning.

DOT officials plan to direct students from buses to safe walking routes, teach safe walking behaviors and the rules of the road and distribute healthy snacks.
