Great American Circus comes to Juneau Oct. 10

Posted: Thursday, October 07, 2010

The biggest circus ever to come to the state will perform in Juneau Sunday, Oct. 10, at Centennial Hall. Showtimes are 12 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

A total of 32 shows are scheduled across nine Alaskan cities in October, including Fairbanks, Wasilla, Soldotna, Sitka, Ketchikan, Anchorage, Kodiak and Nome.

Don't expect elephants or lion trainers. The modern circus is all about people performing for people. The Great American Circus showcases a variety of daredevils and aerial, dance and acrobatic artists, featuring more than a dozen different acts including the Rolla Bolla, Flying Silks, the Chinese Pole, Teeter Board, comedy and much more. Ringmaster "Tuffy" Nicholas was born on the Sarasota stop of the Ringling Brothers Traveling Circus; his father was a ringmaster with Ringling Brothers for 27 years and his mother was a bear trainer. Special performances include Michael Kiss' musical tribute to Michael Jackson.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.takemetothecircus.com or by calling (808) 667-4540. Save up to $5 for advance purchased seats.
