TALKEETNA - A 30-year-old Trapper Creek man tried to elude Alaska State Troopers in a high-speed chase but ended up rolling his pickup truck.

Troopers say Malcolm Merlyn Mead has been charged with felony drunk driving, eluding, reckless driving, resisting arrest and weapons misconduct. He remained jailed Tuesday.

Troopers say Mead was spotted Monday night driving recklessly in a construction zone at Mile 83 Parks Highway and Talkeetna. Troopers tried to stop him near Mile 100.

He fled and turned onto Petersville Road, reaching speeds of more than 100 mph.

At Mile 14, near Kroto Creek, the truck missed a turn, rolled and came to rest on its top, blocking traffic in both directions.

Troopers say Mead fled on foot but was caught.
