With regard to the cost of the ice rink, the Empire reporter was at the Aug. 7 meeting of the assembly when that was discussed and it was clear this was not a $1.1 million project. That's also contained in the resolution and the Voter Information pamphlet clearly states the project is over $3 million. The reporter did not get that in the paper and that's unfortunate.
I voted for the ice rink in Douglas and as a lifelong Juneauite I felt I was totally deceived by their failure to honestly tell the voters what it was really going to cost. Douglas will never get my support on anything again. I am sadly disappointed we have been betrayed.
I watched Anchorage television news and I didn't see any reporting at all about the road vote. Leads me to believe that the people in Anchorage just don't care about the road.

The city needs to set up a drug and alcohol clinic at the skateboard park.
It was the pro-road group who wanted to put the issue on the ballot. I wonder if they realize they are behaving exactly like the pro-move-the-capital group when their cause failed by saying the vote didn't mean anything and we'll keep trying.
