... for the support

Since I arrived in Juneau in July, I have periodically seen an advertisement on television featuring Capital City Fire and Rescue personnel introducing themselves to the community. I was very impressed with this effort. Even more impressive was the fact that the TV spot is sponsored by Alliance Chiropractic Health Center.

The support of a community's business owners is of vital importance to any fire department. Your sponsorship of this spot greatly exceeds the norm and clearly demonstrates you regard for this department, its members and the community. On behalf of the firefighters of Capital City Fire and Rescue, I would like to offer a heartfelt "Thank you."

... to Forst, Gross-Alaska

On behalf of the members of Capital City Fire and Rescue, their families and friends, I wish to thank Eric Forst and Gross-Alaska Inc. for providing us with a wonderful night of entertainment. Providing a special showing of movie "Ladder 49" to the department members was a grand gesture of support for these hard working people.

The support of the business leaders in the community is critical for us to accomplish our mission. The special effort that you provided clearly demonstrates that your company cares a great deal about the men and women of my department and it is this gesture that is most appreciated.

I wish you and your company all the best. As an amateur movie critic, I give "Ladder 49" rave reviews and encourage everyone to go see this excellent show.

... for supporting youth

Saturday, Oct. 2 the Juneau-Douglas High School Volleyball Team hosted their annual spaghetti feed luncheon during the JIVE Tournament, feeding over 100 players from around the state. The generous donations from Fred Meyers, Super Bear, Alaska and Proud Market, Costco, and Carrs-Safeway made this event possible. Thank you very much for your continuous support of our youth.

... for float trip

Auke Bay Brownie Troop Number 29 would like to thank Alaska Travel Adventures for helping make possible our Father/Daughter float trip down the Mendenhall River on Saturday, Sept. 18. A special thanks to our guides Rick and Marianna who provided us with a safe, fun filled float. We would also like to extend our thanks to Jerry for working out all the financial and logistical details. It was a great experience for all.
