Several times in the past few weeks, while listening to the debate on the failed second crossing, I heard City Assemblyman Merrill Sanford state, when polled, the crossing was at the bottom of a priority list for capital improvement projects for the city.
On several occasions I heard Sanford go on to say that, however, the second crossing was the top priority of the assembly.
I would like to remind Sanford and his counterparts they are elected to represent the people. A assembly seat is not a license to promote personal bias. Hopefully after Tuesday's election, this was a lesson learned. Or, will history repeat itself and we will get to vote on it again and again until it finally passes?
