ANCHORAGE - Alaska State Troopers say a tanker truck carrying petroleum has crashed at Mile 78 Glenn Highway near the Matanuska River.

Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters says the truck is leaking oil but she did not know if it had entered the river.

Peters says the truck driver was injured and the traffic was halted by the crash. She says additional details were sketchy but the truck may be on its side.

Troopers took a call on the crash at 4:10 p.m. Thursday.

Peters says medics were on the scene and the Department of Environmental Conservation was responding.
