Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Thefts:

* A woman reported at 10:10 a.m. Monday at the Augustus Brown Swimming Pool that $20 in cash was stolen from the swim team mail boxes.

* A man reported at 1:36 p.m. Monday on South Franklin Street that someone entered his unlocked apartment between 1 and 2:30 a.m. Monday and stole a Sony PlayStation, medication and a brown leather bag.

Vehicle accidents:

* Police cited the driver of a blue Ford pickup for unsafe backing after a motor vehicle accident at 4 p.m. Monday near Ferry Way. The driver backed into a silver Volkswagen Golf.

Hit-and-run incidents:

* Police responded at 8:50 a.m. Monday in the Juneau area to a man's report that his Jeep Cherokee was damaged Sunday night. The tailgate was punctured.

Animal encounters:

* Bears were reported Monday at 8:17 a.m. near Fourth Street and Gold Street and 2:15 p.m. near North Douglas Highway.
