FAIRBANKS -- Two bags containing bomb-making instructions and military materials were found Sunday in woods next to Fairbanks International Airport during a routine security patrol, airport police said.
After talking to the bag's owner Monday, police concluded there was no threat, said Chuck Grandy, chief of the Airport Police and Fire Department.
Joe Cunningham, 39, who was identified by Alaska Airlines tickets found in the bags, told officers he was keeping the bags in the woods while he was between jobs and housing.
Cunningham was trained by the Coast Guard, which could explain the two explosives manuals in the bags, Grandy said. The bag also included a military uniform, patches and other military books.
