Not closing

Posted: Wednesday, October 09, 2002

South East Alaska Medical Suppliers (SEAMS) and Cornerstone Home Health would like to make it clear that neither agency is closing. SEAMS has been serving our region's need for home medical equipment and supplies, including oxygen for nearly 11 years. Cornerstone has been providing home health care services for over five years. Combined, our agencies serve over 400 clients and employ 92 Southeast residents. Our plans are to expand and enhance our comprehensive services, not reduce them.

However, our services may be temporarily interrupted while we try to identify and move to a new location. On Oct. 1, we were given an unexpected 30-day vacate notice. Bartlett Regional Hospital will be converting our space into new physicians offices. We have requested an extension, seeking permission to remain at our current address until Dec. 15. We have not yet received an answer but we are hoping this will be possible. The extension will allow us the time needed to accomplish this move in a way that will have the least negative impact on those we serve.

We wanted to take this opportunity to dispel any rumors that we are closing our doors or reducing our services. There are some exciting changes that will be occurring in the near future. We believe these changes will increase your opportunity for true choice of service providers. Both staff and management of SEAMS and Cornerstone want to thank you all for your support and understanding.
