Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


• Three bags of clothing, a planner and textbooks were reported stolen at 12:01 a.m. today from a vehicle parked near West 11th Street. The items are valued at $770.

Vehicle accidents:

• Police cited a woman, 51, for failure to maintain a safe distance, following a two-vehicle accident at 3:56 p.m. Tuesday near Egan Drive and the McNugget intersection. A 1996 Plymouth Voyager, driven by the woman, struck a 1991 Chevrolet pickup, driven by a man, 20. The Voyager sustained $2,000 in damage and the pickup sustained minor damage.

Animal encounters:

• Bears were reported Tuesday at 8:34 a.m. near Taku Boulevard, 3:37 p.m. near Carroll Place and 4:24 p.m. near Andreanoff Drive.

• Bears were reported today at 12:40 a.m. near Fifth Street in Douglas and 3:04 a.m. near Fifth Street in Douglas.


• A chest freezer was found at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday along the side of Glacier Highway.

Crime Line

Juneau Crime Line Inc. is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the person or people responsible for stealing an outboard motor from a boat parked on what used to be the lot for McQueen Motors. The motor is 10 HP Honda outboard model B100L. The Serial Number is 1707901. The motor is valued at $1,500.
