The 2003 Alaska Junior Miss Scholarship Program, a franchised arm of America's Junior Miss, will be held in Soldotna from Jan. 26-Feb. 1, 2003. This annual competition is part of a nationwide endeavor to reward high school senior girls for their accomplishments. Contestants are evaluated on judges interview, scholastic achievement, creative and performing arts, fitness and poise. The winner will represent Alaska in the national finals scheduled for June in Mobile, Ala. There is no entry fee and it's open to any young woman graduating in the spring of 2003.
In addition to cash rewards, the University of Alaska will award a four-year tuition-only scholarship to the winner and a two-year tuition-only scholarship to the first runner-up.
