LANSING, Mich. - After Republican presidential candidate John McCain halted his Michigan campaign last week, several attempts were made to lure in running mate Sarah Palin.
U.S. Rep. Joe Knollenberg sent a letter inviting her to campaign with him in Oakland County. A grassroots group called Fight for Michigan is trying to gather 100,000 signatures asking Palin to visit the state. And Republican activist Chuck Yob asked Palin to return.
All of which prompted an effort Wednesday by the state Democratic Party to collect signatures asking Palin look-alike Tina Fey of "Saturday Night Live" to visit Michigan.
