Justin McDonald leaving TAKU-105

Posted: Thursday, October 10, 2002

The host of TAKU-105's morning programming will leave the radio station Friday.

Justin McDonald, who also serves as the station's program director, will take a position as operations manager of KBYR-AM 700 in Anchorage.

McDonald, 31, said he has been working in radio since he was 16. He worked at his high school station in Gig Harbor, Wash., and throughout college in Washington. The move to Anchorage is a step up for his career, he said.

"I love Juneau, but I need to do what's best for my career," he said. "I'll have a lot more responsibility - managing the day-to-day operations of the station."

Steve Rhyner, the station's general manager, said TAKU-105 has no immediate plans for replacing McDonald. DJ Ken Wiley will host the morning show for the time being.
