Bonnie Doran, vice president of corporate business development at Daniel Gale Real Estate in Long Island, N.Y., says agents should take a cue from the basic principles they learned in kindergarten - stop (talking), look (to your expert colleagues) and listen (to the client). "The most common mistake fledgling real estate agents make is talking too much," she explains. "Asking questions is fine - it's essential - but opinions and comments are something best kept to oneself." While Doran's advice is targeted to those in the real estate business, the concept spans many types of professions.
