ANCHORAGE - Shell Oil has signed an agreement with Alaska and other states to curb tobacco sales to minors.
Alaska Attorney General Talis Colberg said Wednesday the agreement includes 45 other states and the District of Columbia.
Under the agreement, Shell will train employees at service stations on laws governing tobacco sales to minors and do independent checks on whether the stations are complying.
The agreement will affect 17 locations in Alaska.
Shell joins other retailers who signed similar agreements to trim the sale of tobacco to minors.
