Exams at UAS

Paper-based Graduate Record Exams are being offered Saturday and March 3 by the Learning Center in the Egan Library at the University of Alaska Southeast.

Test takers must arrive for the four-hour exam by 8 a.m. The fee is $99. For more information call 465-6348.

The nationwide Comprehensive Examination for Accreditation in Accounting will be offered at UAS from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 8. For more information call 465-6168. Applications are due Nov. 17.

Adult education volunteers sought

AmeriCorps and VISTA members are wanted to work with the Adult Education Program at the University of Alaska Southeast in Sitka.

AmeriCorps members, who start this month, tutor students, assist adults with job-seeking activities and develop community service workshops.

VISTA projects, which start in November, include developing Internet sites for students, coordinating the development of a local bus system, working with youth and coordinating a local parent group.

Members of both projects get a living allowance, health coverage and receive an end of service bonus or education award.

Girl Scout classes in babysitting, first aid

Girl Scout courses in babysitting, first aid and CPR will be offered this month by the American Red Cross.

The Babysitters Course is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 18 and 19. The cost is $20 for registered Girl Scouts, $27 for non-members.

The first aid and CPR class is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. The cost is $25 for Girl Scouts and $32 for non-members.

The registration deadline for both courses is Thursday. Classes will be at the American Red Cross center on Hospital Drive.
