Carl Reese (letters to the editor, Oct. 4) made some very good observations about the avalanche-chuted road, and that, with peak oil production in the very near future, we won't have any gas to drive on it anyway.
In passing he mentions global warming, but fails to draw the appropriate conclusion. Global warming melts the polar ice caps. As the ocean levels rise, the road is underwater.
We need to build it now or never! Five years from now, only halibut will be able to use it.
