Longtime Juneau resident Art Farrell died Sept. 12, 2009. He was 60.
Born July 11, 1949, he lived in Juneau 33 years, working as a bartender at the Alaskan Hotel & Bar for 20 years, salesman at the Jewel Box for 10 years and bartender at The Bilikan Bar.
He traveled and lived around the United States, from Tucson, Ariz., to Albany, N.Y., until June of 1976. He then hitched and backpacked with a friend across Canada, up the Alaska-Candian Highway to Haines and ferried to Juneau. He loved Juneau and lived here until his death, also living briefly in Tenakee Springs and Maine.
He is survived by his sisters, Lee Liers and Susan Letieri, of Florida; and brother, Ken Farrell, of New York.
A potluck and memorial will take place starting at noon Sunday, Oct. 18, at The Triangle. Friends are welcome to share stories, pictures and food with his many friends.
